This is the official catalogue for the exhibition Makoto Kagoshima: Day After Day, which opened at Itami City Museum of Art on June 30, 2023, before touring venues across Japan.

“Good morning. What are we doing today?” A day in the life of ceramic artist Makoto Kagoshima begins with a question about the work ahead. After breakfast, he works on ceramics; after lunch, he returns to the studio. Following dinner and a bath, he draws, then wakes to begin the cycle again.

The book alternates between Kagoshima’s everyday practice and the vessels that bring happiness to other people’s everyday lives. Featuring an interview recorded over the course of a day, scenes of pottery making, around 80 vessels, and glimpses of daily life, it conveys the warmth of each handmade piece and the persistence of making art day after day.
