This book features 160 pieces of furniture from the author's internationally acclaimed collection, as well as drawings and rare archival photographs. Hans Jørgensen Wegner
1914-2007. Born in Tønder, a town on the border between Denmark and Germany. As a designer and furniture maker, he created numerous classic chairs with original designs based on his deep insight into materials and craftsmanship, and has received international acclaim to this day. His Y Chair and The Chair are also popular in Japan.
Noritsugu Oda
Chair researcher and Professor Emeritus at Tokai University. Born in Kochi Prefecture in 1946. While working in the advertising department of Takashimaya Department Store, he began collecting chairs. Since then, for over half a century, he has researched and collected modern furniture, particularly 20th century Scandinavian furniture, and continues to do so with the basic principle of using it as everyday items. In 1994, he moved to Hokkaido with his collection. In 1997, he received the Danish Furniture Award. In 2015, the jury unanimously awarded the first Hans Wegner Award for "continuing to present the results of his research on Wegner to the world and making a significant contribution to improving Wegner's current reputation."
