This is both a catalogue for an exhibition at Ryosokuin Temple in Kyoto and an independent design book. It aims to explore in depth how Poul Kjaerholm's furniture designs resonate with traditional Japanese aesthetics. From the perspectives of materials, structure and aesthetics, it analyzes how his works blend naturally with Japanese traditions and spaces. The simple yet sophisticated designs use hard materials such as steel, leather and marble, resonating with the Japanese Zen aesthetic of "wabi-sabi" and the concept of space. The furniture's low center of gravity design is highly in harmony with Japanese tatami culture, and the transparency of its structure highlights the "beauty of space".
