The Edo highway. The journey of Tamamatsu. The strong and refreshing scent of pine.
It is said that gods reside in evergreen trees, and as the meaning of "waiting" for them to descend into the tree is linked, pine trees are a symbol of longevity and good fortune, as seen in pine, bamboo, plum, cranes and pine, kadomatsu (New Year 's pine decorations), and Noh stages. In ukiyo-e prints, pine trees are depicted majestically among the people passing by in the Edo period, making them one of the iconic scenes of the time. The refreshing scent of pine trees continued to watch over people traveling along the roads, praying for a safe journey. There is an ukiyo-e design on the back of the package.
It also comes with an incense holder modeled after the stone pavement of Edo. This tin incense holder, which was said to have been popular among people of high rank in Edo, is washable, rust-resistant, and can be used for a long time.
There are also explanations in English, so it's a great souvenir to take overseas.
