Bernard Leach once led the Japanese folk art movement together with Soetsu Yanagi, and the aesthetics of the ``unknown craftsman'' advocated by Soetsu Yanagi were mysteriously embodied in Leach's works. He opened a pottery workshop in the Shōen garden that Soetsu Yanagi once owned in Abiko City. Later, the Folk Crafts Museum run by Soetsu Yanagi naturally became the most suitable location for Leach's work.
