Yoshitomo Nara: Photographs 1983–2003

Internationally acclaimed artist Yoshitomo Nara has continued to take photographs alongside his work as a painter. This volume brings together around 300 images selected from photographs made over roughly twenty years, beginning in 1983, across different places and moments.

From studios in Japan and Germany to scenes photographed in Afghanistan and everyday life in Tokyo, the images offer an intimate view of Nara’s world and working process. Nara reflects that most photographs were taken casually, without a book in mind; looking at them together later, he finds that they also seem to capture his state of mind at different times.
