This book is a photo collection that focuses on the tsubo gardens of Kyoto's machiya townhouses. It contains 84 photos taken by renowned photographer Katsuhiko Mizuno, and is divided into three categories: gardens of merchants, gardens of restaurants and teahouses, and gardens of residences. With intricate composition and delicate lighting, the book vividly expresses the unique charm of Kyoto machiya tsubo gardens. Although small, tsubo gardens have deep cultural significance and are an important component of Kyoto machiya architecture.
