A catalogue of a classic furniture series presented in 1993 by Alessandro Mendini (1931–2019), master of Italian postmodern design, for Design Gallery Milano, the renowned avant-garde gallery in Milan. On the theme of "Museum Market," it playfully fuses the concepts of museum collections and supermarket shelves, and is hailed as a representative work of 1990s radical design and postmodernism. A central figure of Alchimia and the Memphis Group, Mendini challenged the framework of functionalist design throughout his life. This series includes cabinets with drawers (such as Nigritella Nigra), vases (such as the Ambra Dolce ceramic series), chairs and decorative objects, each characterised by vivid colours, hand-painted patterns and collages of different materials, satirising consumer culture while giving the objects "museum-grade" artistic status, transforming everyday furniture into collectable "museum merchandise."
