Byodo-in Temple: Cloud-borne Offering Bodhisattvas

A scholarly examination of the 52 wooden Bodhisattva statues (National Treasures) adorning Byodo-in's Phoenix Hall. Created in 1053 by the Jocho workshop, these dynamic sculptures depict celestial beings playing music amidst clouds to praise Amida Buddha.
