Published in 1982 by the renowned Italian art publisher Belvedere, "Fresco" is a catalog of imaginative contemporary decorative and graphic design. Compiled by design publishing master Wolfgang Hagey himself, this book aimed to break away from the micro-imitation of traditional decorative symbols and reinterpret space and visual surfaces through a macro and avant-garde "language of shapes and forms."
The title "Fresco" does not refer to classical religious frescoes, but rather is a metaphor, treating each page of the book as a "modern wall" that can be freely expressed. Throughout the book, numerous experimental works full of fantastical structures are included, where color planes, graphic structures, type feelings, and printing textures are exquisitely fused, creating a unique modern visual sign system.
