This set contains 10 photographic works depicting sculptures of Japanese Buddhist art spanning the Asuka, Nara, Heian and Kamakura periods. The works shown are masterpieces designated as National Treasures or Important Cultural Properties. Kozo Ogawa of Asukaen captures, in black-and-white photographs that make use of light and shadow, the textures of wooden and clay sculptures, cracks in the statues, flaking gold leaf and the folds of drapery. Thanks to high-definition art printing, each work can also be framed and displayed individually.
