Aoki Komoda was a Japanese painter from the Taisho period to the early Showa period, and is commonly known as a ``poetic painter.'' Komoda was born into a family of dry goods merchants, and the influence of his family education is evident in his sense of aesthetics. His works can be said to embody Japan's unique "poetry and painting spirit." These works have a similar appearance to Chinese flower and bird landscape paintings, but the underlying taste is completely different, and they have a deep meaning where the true meaning can be seen in the minute details. Like the difference between haiku and poetry, it is both familiar and distinct at the same time.
