Authored by architectural historian Michael Sheridan, this book explores Arne Jacobsen’s masterwork—the SAS House—through the lens of Room 606, the only remaining interior of Copenhagen’s SAS Royal Hotel as it was originally designed in 1960. The room stands as a testament to Jacobsen’s total design approach encompassing architecture, furniture, lighting, and textiles.
The project gave rise to iconic designs such as the Egg Chair and Swan Chair. Through nearly 500 images and architectural drawings, readers are invited on a virtual tour of the SAS Hotel and terminal as they appeared in 1960, gaining insight into the building’s design philosophy and its significance within Jacobsen’s life and career.
