This publication accompanies the 2003 exhibition of architect Tadao Ando’s work and centers on his pursuit of harmony between architecture and the environment. Through projects such as the International Library of Children’s Literature in Tokyo and the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art in Kobe—as well as notable international works in Paris and New York—the book articulates Ando’s design philosophy, which reinterprets spatial experience using exposed concrete, light, shadow, and natural elements.
