Domon Ken (1909-1990) marked an era in the history of Japanese photography. Known as a master of portrait photography even before the war, Domon photographed famous people from various fields who left a significant mark on the development of modern Japanese culture and art. His close-up photographs are so realistic that you can almost hear the person breathing. Each photograph brings the person's life into relief. This book brings together 132 of Domon's most powerful portrait photographs. It is a document of the era that gives a panoramic view of cultural figures from the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa periods.
